The Car The Volvo has been in the Glasgow Airport Fire Station for the last 15 years and owned by 3 different Firefighters. It needs some work done with the paint and the mechanics as its sitting with 137,000 miles on the clock. We are still looking for a "Fuel Sponsor", so would welcome any companies or individuals that would like to get a mention whilst helping a really worth while cause. Update (19th August).. Well the Volvo has came out of Gormac Coachworks Ltd. looking like new!! The guys there have done an awesome job giving the tired paint a full respray. Ironically the paint supplier "SPIES HECKER, CUI (Colours Unlimimited International)" had their annual conference in Barcelona this year...!How spooky is that? CARLAC are the Scottish Distributor of SPIES HECKER paints. The bodywork was done by the Apprentice's Alan Barral, Andrew Ashe and Gareth McClure. The paintwork was applied by Apprentice Damian Cochrane who can be seen "spraying" in the pictures. Check out the Gallery for the latest progress of the car which is now in the capable hands of the team of Mechanical Engineers down at Glasgow Airport's MT Section to get all the spinny bits and the parts that make the car go fixed. More to come on that soon. Its coming up fast..... Update (21st August) The guys at the Motor Transport (MT) Section at Glasgow Airport are getting tore in to getting "The Car" MOT'd and roadworthy. Full engine service kit, Set of belts, Brake pads for the rear wheels, Exhaust bracket, Propshaft bearing and a few other bits... Apparantly there is gonna be a couple of surprises fitted...need to watch this space for more. The Pictures below show Jim & George, with thier minders, getting the list of bits needed to get the Volvo roadworthy.. Update (30th August) "The Car" is now in the capable hands of Kevin and the crew at CJ Strain and Son who specialize in all sorts of vinyl graphics from vans, cars, shops and anything else that is used for advertising.
